Eighth Grade Overview
- The seventh and eighth graders will take a three-day trip the first week of May.
- Students have three Middle School activities during the year of which one will be an afternoon dance, an evening dance (Informal), and a spring outing such as an afternoon picnic.
- Students have an opportunity to participate school sports through the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)-basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, and softball.
- Students have an opportunity to participate in Academic Olympics during Catholic Schools Week and the Science Olympiad competition during March.
- Our school administers the IOWA standardized test, which is given at most Catholic schools.
- Students take the high school placement test for Catholic high schools.
- Students that are Catholic make their Confirmation Sacrament with their Catholic peers and those in the evening catechesis program.
- Eighth grade students have an opportunity to serve on the Student Council as an officer (President or Vice President) or a class representative.
- Graduation activities include the Torch and Ribbon Ceremony, Graduation Mass and family reception.
- Eighth graders have a dinner dance as their last class activity.
- School schedule is as follows for 2008-2009:
- Ms.Yaldou, Room 8, Literature, English, Religion, Vocabulary
- Ms. Leonard, Room 6, Math
- Mrs. Kavanaugh, Room 4, Science
- Mrs. Stewart, Room 5, History
- Students are expected to read at least three library books per marking period and either take an Accelerated Reading test or complete a book report for each book read.
- Special class meet 1 x weekly.
